Next October will, most likely, be my first trip to an anime convention. But I have no idea how things work. I was hoping if someone could walk me through it via some steps on this forum. I'd really appreciate the help~!
Con Rule One is always make sure you eat something and drink water. You don't know how many people I see go cranky without it. Your con experience will be more pleasureable.
Well, ok, I got the food situation cleared, now i just want to know the first things i should do, like, if I just walk up to the door, pay the ticket then go in. I don't really know what i have to do. could you explain to me the steps that one should do/make/whatever. Do i have to register for anything? (Sorry if I'm asking for much~! XD)
It just depends on what you like really. If you plan on participating in an event like the cosplay contest or something similar you need to register for that. If you want to be in a video game tourney, you would need to sign up for that too. It's a good idea to carry a schedule with you (they usually have them there if you forget to print one out) so you know when any events are going on that you would like, anime you want to watch is playing, and to see when particular people are signing autographs.
I personally have fun cosplaying, and taking pictures of other cosplayers as well. Playing video games and visiting the dealer's room are both a lot of fun as well. There are just a bunch of different fun things to do, and really, like I said, it just depends on what you like. You'll definitely have a great time though.
thanks for the info, but what i really want to do is just cosplay (but not enter any contests) and take pictures with other cosplayers. And I'd also want to see the sketches people come up with and just see what's in stock in the dealers room. You know, just have a great time without complications. What i'm trying to get clear, is what i should do on the day of the con, like first, would i have to just go wait in line to get my ticket? or are there things in particular that i have to do? D= i'm feeling dumb................XD omg.
First off,are you going with a group of friends or not?
Scenario One:Make you sure you've pre-registered because it's cheaper and you just wait in the Pre-Reg line and flash your *ID?* and email address confirmation thing.Depending on when you get there,it make from 15 minutes to two hours.Afterwards they will hand you your badge*with a lanyard,YAY* along with a goodie bag and you're on your merry way.The goodie bag comes with a Program Schedule, which has a map and list of the events, and just everything about what's going on at the con, some promotional flyers, pins, maybe some stickers, and just general SWAG.Ok,what we usually do is go straight to the dealer's room because you don't want that certain hat you've seen online be bought before you got a chance to at least see it in person fly before your very eyes,do ya?>_< After you're done with that, you may want to watch some anime in the Viewing Rooms, check out the Artist Alley for cosplay stuff, and hand drawn artwork and the like,go check out a panel and meet others with interests like your own,or go crazy to see all the AWESOME cosplayers at Oni-con.Really though, last year's Oni-con was the best show out of cosplay I've seen.I forgot to add eat somewhere in there. But that's common sense.
With friends, same as above, but you might wanna stick around with a friend or too,and keep an open line of communication in case one of you gets lost etc etc. Also watch out for friends that always ask for money, once they do it,they'll do it again I swear by Neptune.Your time will be somewhat compromised, but hey you have three days, have fun.Bye and good luck.
No outside food is allowed in the GRB Convention center.. bring money if you are not staying in the hotel to eat.. If you and your brother are old enough to leave the con and walk a couple of blocks, there are a lot of places around that offer better food at a cheaper price than the GRB vendors. The contract with the GRB prohibits any food and snacks (even Pocky!) from being sold by the con dealers.
A couple of block?!?! The Mickey D's was about 8-9 blocks from what I heard.I'd just stick with going to that mall right down from the hotel. It's about a 10 minute walk from the hotel, but it closes at about 5 on the weekends.

You think they'd let us bring food? :9 I'm planning on going with my little brother, and he gets hungry easily XD
As long as you're not trying to sell it, you should be OK. Don't forget the bottled water.

Mickey D's? Gross. Why, when real food is readily available?
