Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan (Neon Genesis fans/haters rejoice)

Studio Gainax (Neon Genesis Evangelion, FLCL, His and Her Circumstances, and Dead Leafs) has done it once again. Showing that it you don't have to go over the top in make belief politics, military strategy and espionage (Gundam) to make a damn good giant robot anime. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan though having a wordy title is a breath of fresh air in the anime world. Going back to basics for the shonen mecha anime genre, you have plenty of action and fan service which is balanced with a message of morality and inspiration.

If you are painstakingly searching for an anime that's a cut above the rest, then I'm telling you: You need to see this anime!
