The following rule has been added to the rules (http://www.oni-con.com/rules.php)
The use of non-cosplay signs (i.e: 50 cents for a kiss/hug, glomp me) will not be permitted. Signs for cosplay use(a sign that is a part of the costume itself) will be allowed but staff has the right to say that a sign cannot be used and it will need to be put away or will be confiscated. If you are not sure if a certain sign will be allowed contact a Candice, the head of Cosplay at .
This is a common trend amoung conventions as of late, and it designed to help reduce solicitations.
I SAY YAY TO THAT!!! I almost got in the middle of a glomp sandwich because of those signs... My awesome reflexes allowed me to dodge the oncomming blow and...well...I got caught in the middle of it anyways and fell hard on the floor, ow...
I would say I miss the signs, but I really don't? hehehe ^_^ I feel bad for the people who get hurt because of them :P
I'm kinda in between yay or sob........sometimes I think signs are fun to see during cons, but sometimes when someone glomp u all of a sudden and make u fall hard is not that fun though...... -_-
I am glad signs are going the way of the Dinosaurs because the only cons I have ever had problems with, were results of signs... including last years Oni-Con, but Oni-Con was far from the worst. Besides the fact half of the things on the signs were not "legal". people were growing imature, stealing stuff from the hotel to use as signs like the "Hi welcome to Hyatt " or w/e sign... and a bunch of people holding a card board sign doesn't probaly impress the hotel, in reality, the con is trying to impress the hotel just as much as it is trying to impress the con goer. I am glad all the cons seem to be going the way of mature...
The signs used to be cute, then people started taking advantage of them. I didn't even mind the Pocky sl** at AFest, since he was so helpful XD
And the hug monster at Oni was funny, until people started copying.
Now the signs just annoying.
I agree to that, any comment on signs?
If only people let someone be cute with their sign for once and admire it instead of copying it x.X;
Hm, I've never really had any bad experiences with signs. Then again, only one of the cons I've been to didn't have a sign ban. I can't say I disagree with it though because of some of the stories that I've heard.
The whole sign thing was kinda sad... its like begging for random people to come and hug you because your desperate (no offense to anyone) but its good they banned them, in last years oni-con it got out of hand...
i started going to cons when they stopped the whole signs fiasco..i was wondering what it was like ..from the looks of it..it wasnt pretty :blink:
yay for no more signs? XD
