Ummm....can we have Japanese music at the rave/dance this year instead of American music?
Don't we all come to the anime convention to get our little taste of anime/Japan/gaming? Why not have a dance where actual Japanese music is playing instead of stuff we hear everyday??? Just a thought. I wish this could happen this year.
If you go to a Rave in Japan, you will find many, if not most, of the music is from foreign DJs - some American, mostly European.
Added to that is the fact that Oakenfold did the soundtrack to Vexille, and "American" music does actually belong at a rave.
There are several other things that happen at anime cons that are not japanese related: the most glaring example is Cosplay. Sure, the word originated in Japan, but it came after Japanese noticed American's dressing up as their favorite characters at Star Trek cons.... in other words, Cosplay is around because of Trekies, not the Japanese.
I'm actually gonna agree with Hikaru on this one. I would be really neat to have Jap music playing at the dance. Actually a mix of both american and jap music would be pretty cool. And if it is a rave then isn't that mostly tecno music anyhow? lol American, European, Japanese... all of those do a lot with tecno and have some really good stuff. :nods: :nods:
europe has the best rave music in my opinion
but i guess jap conventions do have jap music at times
but raves are more hardcore when in europe languages
do we know who is going to be the dj this year at the "rave"? if it is Greg i would think he would try to change it up a little bit for the crowd's pleasure although i like the stuff he does alot
I also have to agree with Hikaru. I personally love all kinds of music but it would be kinda nice to have at least a little bit or a block of time maybe dedicated to Japanese music. Personally I would REALLY love to have music played FROM our fav animes. For instance...Ghost in the Shell has some awesome music, Cowboy Bebop, Bleach, Final Fantasy etc. all have great music too. That might be cool to have a poll to vote which music we get for that block of time. OR, we could get the Oni-Con goers and forum users involved by setting up a requests forum on here that could be given to the DJ before the rave. Food for thought. ^_^
as i said i have been to osaka i love alot of the j techno there is and last year it wasn't much there so give us some real folks blues, give is some simple and clean just get a last and play we will listen
Keiichi.net Anime Radio hosts raves/dances that only feature Japanese techno. We use remixes of anime, J-music, and even gaming music. It's been a few years since we hosted a rave at Oni-Con, but we would love to return if they would have us.
The Nico Nico Medley (Nico Nico Kumikyoku) is a huge mashup of songs from Nico Nico Douga/anime/etc., including songs from Haruhi, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, Touhou Project, Final Fantasy, and others. It's mostly fast-paced techno music. It's fanmade and so should carry no copyright/license issues. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2W7CaPo2TKc
It's got a sequel, Nico Nico Ryuuseigun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsNTqB8FqQQ
