Artists' Alley for Oni-Con 2008?

Artists' Alley for Oni-Con 2008?

has anything changed from last year, such as pricing or options? i'd really like to find out soon. oh yes, do we need a seller's license or anything? because they require that at some conventions from what i've heard. also, what do we need to do to get our table at the con, like times for registration and setup? if there's anything else about the artists' alley i haven't asked about, nevertheless, please tell me.

oh yea, if somebody sells yaoi paddles at the artist alley, do they need some sort of permission in order to get it to sell, or is it not allowed

lolol! that'd be funny. if there's actually going to be a yaoi fest this year, i'd definitely buy my friend one.

yup, just need approval if i can actually sell them, since im making them, isnt it that why they call it "Artist's Alley"...

Texas doesn't have a

Texas doesn't have a "seller's license" per se, but it does have a tax id number for people selling.
Some cons require you to present your tax id to get your table (A-Kon, AnimeFest), some don't.
I dont know if Oni will.

If you go to the Convention Artists Community Forums: < www.starcrossd.net/akon/index.php > there is a lot of good information on this (and other stuff for sellers in Artists Alleys

um...

Texas DOES have a seller's license. It's just called something different.
It's called "Texas sales and use tax permit" and very theoretically speaking, you need it to sell anything in the state of texas, cons are no exception. The artist community forum meauho mentioned is a good place to start. I'm running the artist alley/ sometimes dealer's room and I have a texas sales and use tax permit, and I went to my county office to register my business name. (since my business name didn't have my last name in it) It's like 14 bucks and you basically register your business name for 10 years unless you terminate it before.

However, most artist alleys at cons are pretty lenient and don't actually check them. I know the bigger cons like akon enforces them but I didn't have to worry about it for ikkicon. Onicon... I don't think they checked but you might want to check.

If you can sell anything else, yaoi paddles should be fine. You can sell pretty much anything related to anime pg13 that doesn't have a isbn barcode (commercial barcode) on it. You can have some adult stuff but more paperwork and checking ids.

Hope that helped.

Yaoi Paddles: they are

Yaoi Paddles: they are rapidly being banned around the country because cons have been warned that it constitutes "sexual assault" to spank somebody with one against their will.

It gets worse when the person being spanked is underage.

For some reason, people cant just use them as signs like they were originally intended. Of course, even signs are making their way out because cons are getting nailed for allowing solicitation (especially underage.. "Will ____ for _____"... how stupid can you be?)

They are banned from at least 2 cons in Texas already

when r they gonna update the

when r they gonna update the website on the artist alley, usually they would have info on how to get ur seller's tax permit, dont they?

Not necessarily. If you

Not necessarily. If you follow the link I gave above to the Convention Artists Forums, it does provide a good resource for that, as well as other Convention Artists information. It should have whether or not Oni is going to require you to show proof that you have one, or going to go on the "honor system".
