looking for Gaming room assitant
OK,
this year I felt the arcade room went fairly well other then the DDR. Next year we are going for 2 to 3 times the current room size and I have already started to line up more industry vendors for next year. However with this I am going to need someone to assist with the planing and executing of the gaming room. Now since I know DDR and other musical type games (pop n Music, para para, beatmania, etc.) are a hugh hit I will need someone to focus on this. So if you are interested email me at and we will discuss. just a few things first
1. Prefer someone 18 or older.
2. Must be around for the Next Oni-Con 2007
3. Must live in Houston (to hard to work with out of towners). Meeting will be on south side of town.
4. need to be able to attend a bi-monthly meeting and more as con draws closer. I do not expect to have a meeting on this until Jan.
5. Must be willing to work for free. yes even I volunteer for this. there are some perks to being on assitant staff though.
Just as another note. I know Mugen was a big hit this year but after talking with some people in the industry they are against advertising games that abuse the use of thier IP's. So afraid no Mugen next year.
And as always I will be running a free arcade, although I may pull out something special next year that I will have to charge for. We will see :)
I have 2 others currently on staff for assiting. just need a third for the music gaming stuff.
Darn! I was hoping this was a general planner type deal. Unfortunately, I have no clue about what's hot and what's not as far as music games go.
However, I did have some ideas about what we could do for next Oni-Con, send me a message if you'd like. B)
Yeah, I have chris and rowland to help me out for the regular stuff. But I am lacking on the dance type game . It is easy to just setup a DDR but It would be better to get someone more familar with that Scene in setting up some tournaments and help in the promotion. I am also going to setup a handheld gaming section next year as well. Just need a larger room.
How will the handheld work? If it's you providing the handhelds, I'd say chain 'em up to a table and have someone watching them.
Better hook me up with some NGPC competition.
Maybe even a tournament. :lol:

I noticed you guys were a bit low on TVs and systems in the room. I didn't even see Naruto being played. Remember, if you guys need systems or TVs, you have me and Mr. 3000 (the Smash winner) to call on.
Hehe, alright i've give you some competition on match of the millenium and ngpc real bout 2.Great, now i gotta find my system.And I'm sure bruno will love any additional help he can get Dugfinn, nice meeting you and your group of gamers/cosplayers.We'll have to do some battle scences again.

T.v.'s next year should not be a problem. It looks like Best Buy will help with providing all the T.V's i need next year. we also had 4 in storage I was unable to pull out. but will use next year for a Halo 3 :)
I had naurto 3 out for a little bit but replaced it with SSBM when I was running the tournaments. Someone brought Naurto 4 but was trying to setup a cash pot so I asked them to stop. Even though it was in their hotel room. I had several parents ask what the $5 was for also it was disrespectfull to my sponsors who were there. this Guy also wanted to argue about it with everyone including my sponsors. I came real close to getting him ejected.
LOL, I know it's a little late to be saying this, but good job everyone with running the gameroom, I pretty much spent the whole con in there. Also, Big Bruno, you did too good a job on over seeing the tournaments. You made sure they started on time and that they progressed smoothly. The prizes you gave were simply amazing, especially the one's for the Super Smash tournies. It's just too bad for everyone that I won them both, hehe. So, closing this post up, good job gamingroom crew and continue doing what ya'll do best. Also, Big Bruno are you going to a post a summary or anything pertaining to the tourney, I'm just curious.

Also, I would also like to add that you guys did a fantastic job on the gameroom. I don't think I've ever been to one where the tournaments actually *gasp* started on time! I can't say how impressed I am with that.
And everything seemed to progress very smoothly.

Also, I know ya'll are looking for an assistant with DDR and other music/etc. related games. I wish you luck on finding one. I'd myself volunteer, but I only know about DDR, Karaoke Revolution, Pump it Up, and a little about Guitar Hero. I'm not too well versed in Para-para. And other than that, I'm clueless about all else. Too bad, I'd have loved to help out.
