Buranden

Buranden has taken Japan by storm. His upbeat, melodic and driving songs shattered expectations at the Kansai Music Conference in Osaka this September, and continued to dazzle audiences at subsequent performances in Sendai and Tokyo. He is a bilingual singer-songwriter with a classically-trained, smooth but powerful voice who crafts moving, yet energizing tracks. Touching on the East and the West, his music unites them to create electronically charged Pop.
Admittedly influenced by sensations Utada and Gackt, he comments that his latest activity, a showcase of the music video for hit single “Complicated Life” on Japanese National Television (channel: Music Japan TV) has been both surreal and thrilling. “The response has been overwhelming. This is a new era for Japan, one which embodies an international mindset when it comes to what has until now been deemed as strictly Japanese music.” Complicated Life achieved over 10,000 unique downloads on MySpace within just a few weeks of posting earlier this year, leading to a very positive reception of his EP of the same name released in mid 2009.
When asked about his upcoming American appearances, he has this to say. “I’m thrilled to bring my music to the states. For those of you who will be at the show, it will be a dynamic adventure. I’m looking forward to putting on a concert that will keep you locked-in on the action and playing it back in your head afterwards.”
